Wastewater performance rules are changing

- Regulations 19A and 20 will apply from 8 September 2026.
- Subpart 2 of Part 2 will apply from 19 December 2028.
- Subpart 1 of Part 2 will still apply from 1 September 2026.

These regulations start the day after they are notified in the Gazette; the affected standards apply on 1 September 2026, 8 September 2026, or 19 December 2028 as stated above.

Background
The government says these changes correct a gap in the earlier commencement wording. They clarify the intended start dates without changing the 1 September 2026 date for subpart 1 of Part 2.
