What's changing
- Chlorpyrifos will be added to the list of substances banned for use as agricultural compounds.
- Chlorpyrifos will also be banned as an ingredient in agricultural compounds.
Who's affected
People and businesses using, supplying, or making agricultural compounds containing chlorpyrifos will be affected.
When
The changes will start on 8 July 2027.
Background
The government says the change is needed to carry out amendments made in 2025 to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which New Zealand has joined.
